Pakistan Discusses Financing Options With ADCB at Bangkok Meetings

Pakistan’s finance minister, Muhammad Aurangzeb, met an Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank delegation to discuss financing and investment options during the World Bank Group-IMF Annual Meetings in Bangkok. Pakistan’s Finance Division reported the talks on 17 October 2026.

The discussion covered possible sukuk issuance, debt refinancing, restoration of credit limits and ways to reduce borrowing costs and extend maturities. Other possibilities included financing linked to the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation, Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency-backed funding and an IFC-supported diversified payment rights transaction.

The meeting reflects ADCB’s participation in exploratory sovereign-finance discussions rather than a completed lending or investment agreement. Any transaction would require separate terms, approvals and disclosure, and the talks do not confirm vacancies. Source: Arab News Pakistan, citing Pakistan’s Finance Division.
