FAB Issues MENA’s First Digital Green Bond
First Abu Dhabi Bank has issued AED 1 billion of three-year digitally native green notes, described as the first digital green bond from the Middle East and North Africa. The notes were priced on 13 October and settled on 15 October 2026 through Euroclear’s Digital Financial Market Infrastructure.
The securities carry a 5.75% coupon and mature on 15 October 2029. FAB says proceeds will support eligible environmental and climate-related projects under its sustainable finance framework. The bank expects the notes to list on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange.
The transaction follows FAB’s inaugural digital bond in 2025 and combines blockchain-based issuance with green financing criteria. The bank reported facilitating AED 395 billion in sustainable and transition finance by the first half of 2026, toward its AED 500 billion target for 2030. Source: Emirates News Agency.
