Amazon Adds $1 Billion Programme for US Data Centre Communities

Amazon has launched Built Together, a programme committing more than $1 billion over five years to US communities where it operates data centres. The company announced the initiative on 2 October 2026.

Amazon says the funding will support education, job training, energy affordability, water preservation and priorities selected by local communities. It also introduced a set of principles covering transparency, local engagement and the way it builds and operates data centres. The initiative comes as investment in cloud and artificial-intelligence infrastructure expands rapidly and communities scrutinise its local effects.

The programme is a community investment commitment and does not itself announce specific vacancies. Source: Amazon’s Built Together programme; independent reporting from Associated Press.
