Job Description

Al-Futtaim Retail operates across the Middle East, North Africa, and Southeast Asia, working with major international brands including IKEA across its retail portfolio — and its digital commerce operation depends on well-run product data and platform infrastructure behind the scenes. This Product Owner role is responsible for the Product Information Management (PIM) system and the eCommerce platforms that depend on it, making sure product data across the group’s retail brands is accurate, structured, and available where it needs to be — on the website, in search, in recommendations, wherever digital retail depends on clean product information.

The role sits at the intersection of product management and eCommerce operations: gathering requirements from retail and digital teams, prioritizing a platform roadmap, working with engineering to ship improvements, and troubleshooting the inevitable data-quality issues that come with running PIM across multiple brands and markets. It’s less about writing code and more about owning the “what” and “why” of the platform, with technical teams handling the “how.”

This suits someone with genuine product ownership or product management experience specifically within eCommerce or digital retail — someone who understands why product data structure matters for a shopper’s experience, not just as an abstract technical concept.

Given Al-Futtaim Retail’s scale across multiple brands and geographies, this role also requires comfort managing complexity — the same platform decision can look different depending on which brand or market it’s touching, and part of the job is making sensible trade-offs across that variety.

Impact of the Job

Digital retail lives or dies on product data quality — a shopper who can't find accurate sizing, pricing, or availability information simply won't complete a purchase, and inconsistent product data across brands undermines search, recommendations, and even basic site navigation. For a retail group operating multiple international brands across several markets, as Al-Futtaim Retail does, the PIM and eCommerce platform is genuinely foundational infrastructure — get it wrong, and every brand's digital storefront inherits the problem. This role's ownership over platform priorities directly affects conversion rates, search performance, and the overall shopper experience across the group's digital retail footprint. It's also a role with compounding value: a well-structured PIM system makes every future digital initiative — a new market launch, a new brand onboarding, a new marketing campaign — faster and cheaper to execute, while a poorly maintained one makes every one of those things harder and slower. It's also a role whose output is visible immediately to customers, giving fast, concrete feedback on whether a decision actually worked.

Job Seeker Benefit

Product ownership roles focused on PIM and eCommerce platforms are in strong demand across retail globally, and doing this work at the scale of Al-Futtaim Retail — multiple international brands across several markets — builds a depth of experience that's hard to get at a single-brand retailer. The complexity of managing product data consistency across brands and geographies is exactly the kind of problem that senior eCommerce and digital product leaders need to have solved before, which makes this a strong platform for moving into more senior product or digital retail leadership roles. Working alongside major international retail brands, including IKEA, also builds exposure to enterprise-grade retail operations and the platform standards that come with them — valuable context whether a future path stays in retail product management or moves into broader eCommerce or digital transformation roles. The blend of stakeholder management (retail and digital teams across multiple brands) and technical platform ownership (working closely with engineering) also builds a genuinely well-rounded product management skill set, one that translates directly to product roles in any industry with a serious digital commerce operation. It also builds credibility working alongside a recognizable international retail name, which strengthens a résumé within the region's competitive digital retail and eCommerce job market for years afterward.
