First Abu Dhabi Bank Sets AED 100 Billion Blue Finance Target
First Abu Dhabi Bank has set a target of AED 100 billion in financing related to water and the blue economy between 2026 and 2035. In an 8 September announcement, FAB also said it had signed the UN Sustainable Blue Economy Finance Principles, becoming the first bank in the Middle East and North Africa to do so.
The bank says the target covers areas such as sustainable water infrastructure and related projects. It forms part of FAB’s existing AED 500 billion sustainable-finance commitment to 2030; it is not an additional AED 100 billion on top of that pledge.
For professionals following the UAE financial sector, the move points to a growing focus on water-related risk, project finance and sustainability expertise. The target is a financing commitment, not a statement about current hiring.
