# Amazon Raises US Operations Starting Pay to $20 an Hour

Amazon is raising the minimum starting wage for eligible full-time core operations employees in the United States to $20 an hour. The $1 hourly increase will lift average pay for the group to nearly $24, with Amazon valuing average total compensation at more than $32 an hour when benefits are included.

The company is also adding access to a low-cost credit-union membership for qualified employees and their families. The banking benefit includes checking and savings accounts without monthly maintenance or overdraft fees and can remain available after an employee leaves Amazon.

From October 1, all US Amazon employees will receive discounts on eligible groceries and everyday essentials online and at Whole Foods Market stores. The package expands Amazon’s employee benefits ahead of the year-end retail season.
