# Sr Regional, Pre-construction, GES – Amazon

This role sits inside Amazon’s Global Engineering Services (GES) team, the group responsible for turning a piece of land or an empty shell into a working Amazon facility. A Senior Regional Pre-Construction specialist owns the phase before the builders fully take over: scoping the site, lining up permits and approvals, coordinating architects, engineers and contractors, and making sure the design and the budget are locked down before construction risk becomes expensive to fix.

Day to day, the work is a mix of desk and site: reviewing drawings and cost estimates, running problem-resolution calls with contractors and local authorities, tracking a portfolio of projects across the region rather than a single site, and escalating only what genuinely needs escalating. Independence matters here – this is a role built for someone who can troubleshoot a stalled permit or a design clash and drive it to closure without needing to be told how.

It suits a construction, engineering or infrastructure project management background, someone who has sat across the table from contractors and consultants before and knows how a pre-construction programme can quietly slip if nobody is chasing it. Comfort with regional travel between sites and a high tolerance for ambiguity – since no two sites and no two local permitting regimes behave quite the same – both help.

Because GES sits upstream of every new or expanded Amazon site in the region, the standard set at pre-construction stage shapes how smoothly everything after it goes, from groundbreaking through to the facility going live.

## Requirements

- Degree in civil/structural engineering, construction management, architecture or a related field

- Several years’ experience in pre-construction, project management or site development, ideally across multiple concurrent projects

- Working knowledge of permitting, planning approvals and construction regulations in the region

- Confidence reading architectural and engineering drawings and cost estimates

- Strong stakeholder management with contractors, consultants and local authorities

- Able to work independently, resolve issues with minimal supervision, and travel between sites as needed
