# Secondary Science Teacher – GEMS Education

This Secondary Science Teacher role sits within GEMS Education, teaching science to secondary students at a GEMS school in the UAE. The position covers the breadth typical of secondary science teaching – delivering lessons across biology, chemistry and physics content depending on the specific curriculum stage, running practical lab sessions safely, and preparing students for the external examinations their programme builds toward.

Day to day, expect lesson planning and delivery across multiple year groups, organising and supervising lab practicals, marking coursework and assessments, and working with the wider science department on curriculum sequencing and moderation. Secondary science teaching also carries real responsibility for lab safety and procedure, on top of the usual demands of classroom management and student engagement.

It suits a qualified secondary science teacher confident managing practical lab work alongside theory teaching, comfortable with teenage students specifically, and drawn to the outstanding school environment and professional structure that come with being part of a large, long-established education group.

GEMS Education’s scale also means access to shared resources and department-wide collaboration across one of the region’s most established school networks.

## Requirements

- Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, B.Ed or equivalent) with a science specialism

- Experience teaching secondary science, ideally within a British, IB or similarly structured curriculum

- Confidence running and supervising practical lab sessions safely

- Strong classroom management skills with teenage students

- Experience preparing students for external science examinations

- Willingness to contribute to department planning, pastoral care and extracurricular science activities
