# Secondary English Teacher – GEMS Education

GEMS Education runs one of the largest networks of private schools in the UAE, and this Secondary English Teacher role sits within that network at a school committed to delivering education at an exceptional level – the kind of environment where lesson planning, assessment, and classroom management are all held to a genuinely high bar rather than left to individual teacher discretion alone.

The role covers planning and delivering secondary-level English lessons across the curriculum the school follows, assessing student progress against clear benchmarks, and contributing to the broader literacy and language development goals of the department. GEMS teachers typically also take on some form of pastoral or extracurricular responsibility beyond the classroom, as is standard across most well-run secondary schools in the UAE’s private education sector.

It suits a qualified English teacher with secondary-level classroom experience who wants to teach in a well-resourced school environment with structured curriculum support, professional development, and a genuinely international student body. GEMS schools are known for strong facilities and a collaborative teaching culture, which tends to suit teachers who want to keep developing their craft rather than coast on existing lesson plans.

## Requirements

- Recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, B.Ed, or equivalent) with English specialization

- Proven classroom experience teaching English at secondary level

- Strong lesson planning, assessment, and classroom management skills

- Experience with an international curriculum (British, American, or IB) is a strong advantage

- Willingness to contribute to pastoral care and extracurricular school life

- Excellent spoken and written English communication skills
