# Physics Teachers – GEMS Education

A Physics Teacher at a GEMS school in Dubai plans and delivers physics instruction within an internationally benchmarked curriculum, guided by the IB Learner Profile or a comparable framework, across the relevant year groups. The role combines conceptual and mathematical instruction with hands-on laboratory work, since physics at this level relies heavily on experimentation to build genuine understanding rather than abstract memorization.

Day to day, this involves preparing lessons that connect theory to practical demonstration, planning and safely supervising lab experiments, assessing coursework and preparing students for external examinations, and providing feedback that addresses both conceptual gaps and mathematical application, since physics often exposes weaknesses in students’ mathematics as much as their science understanding. Differentiating instruction for mixed-ability classrooms is a constant feature of the role, as physics tends to have a wide spread of student confidence and aptitude.

Beyond the classroom, GEMS teachers contribute to the wider school community through pastoral responsibilities, extracurricular involvement such as physics or robotics clubs, and modeling the school’s values in daily interactions with students. Being part of a large school network also means working within shared curriculum resources and assessment structures while being held to consistent standards across the group.

This role suits a qualified physics teacher who’s comfortable with both the conceptual and mathematical sides of the subject, enjoys hands-on practical teaching, and wants to work within a structured, internationally minded school community.

## Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Engineering, or Education; recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, B.Ed, or equivalent)

- Proven classroom teaching experience in Physics, ideally within an international curriculum (IB, British, or American system)

- Experience planning and safely supervising laboratory practical sessions

- Strong ability to connect physics concepts to their mathematical underpinnings for students

- Strong lesson planning and differentiation skills for mixed-ability classrooms

- Excellent classroom and lab management skills

- Willingness to contribute to pastoral care and extracurricular activities
