Job Description

Amazon Now is Amazon’s quick-commerce push in the UAE — the dark-store and rapid-delivery side of the business, built to get groceries and everyday items to customers in minutes rather than days. An Operations Lead for Store Operations runs the day-to-day of one of these sites: inventory accuracy, picking and packing throughput, staffing rotas, and the dozens of small operational calls that decide whether an order actually arrives in the promised window.

The job is hands-on. It means being on the floor during peak hours, not just reading dashboards after the fact — spotting where a pick path is slowing people down, where stock is miscounted, or where a shift is short-staffed, and fixing it before it becomes a customer complaint. It also means running the standard Amazon operational rhythm: safety checks, process audits, performance metrics, and coaching a team of associates who are new to the pace a quick-commerce site demands.

This suits someone with retail, warehouse, or fast-paced operations experience who likes being accountable for a number — fulfilment speed, accuracy, cost per order — rather than just a process. Amazon’s operational systems and standards are rigorous, and the learning curve is real, but so is the exposure to one of the more advanced operating models in UAE retail right now.

Impact of the Job

Quick-commerce lives or dies on minutes, and this role is where those minutes are actually won or lost. Every stockout, mis-pick, or slow shift at a single Amazon Now site shows up directly in a customer's delivery time — and in quick-commerce, delivery time is close to the entire product. An Operations Lead who keeps inventory accurate, the floor well-staffed, and the team coached to Amazon's pace is protecting the promise that got the customer to open the app in the first place. Get it wrong consistently and customers simply switch to a competitor's app for the next order — there's little loyalty buffer in this category. Get it right and the site becomes a reliable, repeatable node in a network Amazon is actively trying to scale across the UAE, which makes strong operational performance here one of the more directly measurable contributions in the business. At the store level, this kind of role also shapes word-of-mouth reputation in a competitive UAE retail market, where shoppers compare experiences across brands within the same mall. Strong, consistent execution here compounds into footfall, repeat visits, and the kind of customer loyalty that's hard to win back once lost.

Job Seeker Benefit

Quick-commerce operations is one of the fastest-growing and most closely watched categories in UAE retail and logistics right now, and hands-on leadership experience inside Amazon's version of it is a genuinely distinctive line on a CV. The operational discipline Amazon is known for — rigorous metrics, structured processes, safety and quality standards — is a skill set that transfers cleanly into supply chain, retail operations, and logistics leadership roles across the region, well beyond Amazon itself. This role also builds frontline people-leadership muscle fast: managing a shift-based team through peak demand, under real-time pressure, teaches coaching and prioritisation skills that take much longer to develop in slower-paced environments. For someone early in an operations career, a year or two running a site like this is a strong credential for stepping up into multi-site or regional operations roles, either within Amazon's growing UAE footprint or with any other retailer or logistics company building out quick-commerce or fulfilment capability in the Gulf. It's also a role that builds transferable commercial instincts — reading customer behaviour, adjusting on the fly, staying composed during a busy period — that matter well beyond retail itself, in any role that depends on consistent performance in front of real customers under real pressure.
