# Media Teacher – GEMS Education

GEMS Cambridge International School in Dubai is hiring a Media Studies teacher, a subject that sits a little differently from core academics — it’s about teaching students to critically analyse, create, and understand media in a world where that skill matters more than ever. The role covers planning and delivering engaging Media Studies lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum, likely spanning both theoretical media analysis and practical production work depending on the syllabus level taught.

Being part of GEMS specifically carries a particular advantage: GEMS Education is one of the largest school networks in the world, and a notable share of its school leadership has come up through its own teaching ranks. That internal mobility means a Media Teacher joining GEMS isn’t just filling a single classroom role — they’re entering a network where strong teaching is a genuine pathway to leadership positions across dozens of schools.

It suits a qualified teacher with a background in media, journalism, film, or a related creative-practical subject, who’s comfortable balancing academic rigour with the kind of hands-on, creative project work that makes Media Studies engaging for students.

## Requirements

- Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, B.Ed, or equivalent)

- Subject background in Media Studies, Film, Journalism, or a closely related discipline

- Experience planning and delivering lessons that combine media theory with practical/creative production

- Strong classroom management skills appropriate to the age group taught

- Familiarity with international curriculum standards (IB, British, or similar, as used at the school)

- Genuine enthusiasm for keeping media content and examples current and relevant to students
