Job Description

This role sits inside the finance function at Aster Hospitals’ head office in Dubai, where the day-to-day work is less about spreadsheets in the abstract and more about keeping a hospital network’s financial backbone sound. The Manager, Finance & Accounts owns the accuracy and timeliness of transaction recording across the group, working to IFRS standards and Aster’s internal policy set rather than a looser private-company norm. General ledger oversight is the core of the job: reconciliations, journal review, and making sure the numbers that feed into monthly and quarterly reporting actually hold up under audit scrutiny.

Aster DM Healthcare operates one of the larger hospital and clinic networks across the GCC, which means the finance team here is dealing with multi-entity consolidation, cross-border cost allocation, and a reporting calendar that doesn’t slow down for anyone. A finance manager who has worked in a multi-site operation, healthcare or otherwise, will recognize the rhythm immediately: close the books, defend the numbers, move to the next cycle.

The better fit for this seat is someone comfortable being the person finance leadership and external auditors go to when a number needs explaining, not just producing. Healthcare finance has its own quirks, insurance receivables, regulatory reporting layered on top of standard IFRS, and that context helps, though a strong general ledger and consolidation background from another regulated industry would translate reasonably well too.

Impact of the Job

Hospitals run on patient outcomes, but they run on accurate financial reporting too, and the two are more connected than they look from the outside. When general ledger entries are clean and reconciliations happen on schedule, hospital leadership gets real-time visibility into cash position, departmental cost performance, and insurance receivable aging, which shapes decisions about staffing, equipment purchases, and which services to expand. A finance manager who keeps the books tight gives Aster's regional leadership the confidence to make those calls quickly rather than waiting on corrected numbers. There is also a compliance dimension that matters more in healthcare than in most industries: insurance regulators, auditors, and sometimes government health authorities expect financial statements that hold up to scrutiny, and a single weak link in reconciliation can delay audit sign-off for an entire group. On the other side of the ledger, accurate, timely financial data supports the group's ability to raise financing, negotiate supplier terms, and plan hospital investment with real numbers instead of estimates. This is one of those roles where good work is largely invisible when done right, and very visible, and very costly, when it is not.

Job Seeker Benefit

Joining Aster DM Healthcare's finance function puts a candidate inside one of the GCC's largest healthcare groups, which is a meaningfully different experience from finance roles in a single-site business. The exposure to multi-entity consolidation, cross-border reporting, and healthcare-specific accounting treatments (insurance receivables, regulatory cost reporting) builds a skill set that is genuinely scarce and transferable to senior finance roles across the region, not just within healthcare. Because the group operates across multiple GCC markets and into India, finance professionals who perform well here often find a path toward regional finance leadership, group reporting, or FP&A roles with a wider mandate than a single-hospital finance seat would offer. There is also real professional development value in working alongside internal audit and external auditors on a recurring basis, few roles force that level of rigor as a matter of routine. Beyond the technical growth, healthcare finance carries a different kind of weight than most corporate finance work: the numbers connect, even indirectly, to patient services, staffing levels, and the group's ability to keep expanding access to care. For someone building a long-term finance career in the UAE, a few years inside a group of Aster's scale is a credible, CV-strengthening step, and the healthcare sector's relative resilience through economic cycles adds a layer of career stability that more cyclical industries cannot always match.
