# Data Center Facility Engineer, Data Center Engineering Operations, AWS – Amazon

This is the Dubai counterpart to AWS’s Data Center Facility Engineer role within Data Center Engineering Operations — the team keeping the physical infrastructure behind AWS running continuously: power, cooling, fire suppression, and the mechanical/electrical systems that a live data center depends on. Like its Abu Dhabi equivalent, this is a facilities engineering role, not a software one, and uptime is the entire point of the job.

The day-to-day rhythm centers on monitoring critical systems, responding quickly and correctly when something faults, running scheduled maintenance on mechanical and electrical plant, and working rotating shifts since the facility never fully stops running. Being first responder on a critical system issue during a shift is a real part of the job, which means the role carries genuine operational responsibility from early on.

It’s a good fit for someone with mechanical or electrical engineering training and some background in critical facilities or uptime-sensitive industrial environments — power, oil and gas, manufacturing, or telecoms infrastructure are all reasonable entry points. What matters as much as technical knowledge is a methodical, safety-first approach to maintenance and a willingness to work shift patterns.

## Requirements

- Degree or diploma in mechanical, electrical, or facilities engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience

- Experience with critical infrastructure: power distribution, UPS, cooling/HVAC, generators, or building management systems

- Willingness to work rotating shifts in a continuous 24/7 operation

- Strong, fast, methodical troubleshooting when equipment faults

- Background in planned and reactive maintenance in an industrial or facilities setting

- Calm, clear communication during live incident response
