# Data Center Facility Engineer, Data Center Engineering Operations, AWS – Amazon

AWS is building out its Abu Dhabi data center footprint, and this Facility Engineer role sits inside Data Center Engineering Operations — the team that keeps the physical infrastructure behind AWS running: power systems, cooling, fire suppression, building management systems, and the mechanical/electrical plant that keeps a data center online around the clock. This isn’t a software role; it’s a hands-on facility engineering role where uptime is the whole point.

Day to day work typically includes monitoring critical infrastructure systems, responding to alarms or faults, running planned maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment, and working rotating shifts since data centers run continuously. When something does go wrong, the engineer on shift is the first line of response, which means the role carries real operational weight — a slow or wrong call on a critical system fault can have outsized consequences.

It suits someone with a mechanical or electrical engineering background, ideally with some exposure to critical facilities, industrial plant, or similarly uptime-sensitive environments — power generation, oil and gas, manufacturing, or telecoms infrastructure are common feeder backgrounds. Comfort with shift work and a methodical, checklist-driven approach to maintenance matter as much as raw technical knowledge.

## Requirements

- Degree or diploma in mechanical, electrical, or facilities engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience

- Experience with critical infrastructure systems: power distribution, UPS, cooling/HVAC, generators, or building management systems

- Comfortable working rotating shifts in a 24/7 operational environment

- Strong troubleshooting instincts under time pressure when equipment faults

- Experience with planned and reactive maintenance in an industrial or facilities setting

- Clear, calm communication during incident response

## Suggested Resume Keywords
