# Data Center Facility Engineer, Data Center Engineering Operations, AWS – Amazon

AWS is expanding its UAE data center footprint, and this Data Center Engineering Operations Engineer role is based at one of its Abu Dhabi facilities. The job is the same mission as everywhere else in AWS’s global fleet: keep the mechanical and electrical systems that power and cool the servers running without interruption, twenty-four hours a day.

Engineers in this role monitor building management systems, run scheduled maintenance on generators, UPS units, chillers, and switchgear, and respond to faults following strict safety and change-control procedures. Shift work is part of the deal, as is staying calm when something breaks at 3am and customers around the world are depending on that facility staying up.

It’s a good match for someone with hands-on electrical or mechanical experience in a critical environment – a data center, power plant, marine, or military background all translate well – who wants to work inside a tightly run, safety-first operation rather than general facilities maintenance. Abu Dhabi’s growing status as a regional cloud and AI infrastructure hub makes this a role with real long-term relevance, not just a maintenance job.

## Requirements

- Hands-on experience with critical electrical and/or mechanical infrastructure (generators, UPS, HVAC, switchgear)

- Background in data center, industrial, military, marine, or utilities environments preferred

- Able to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends

- Strong fault diagnosis and troubleshooting skills under time pressure

- Understanding of safety and change-management procedures in critical facilities

- Clear communication for incident reporting and shift handovers

- Willingness to work on-site in Abu Dhabi
