# Alternative Pathway (SEND) Teacher – GEMS Education

GEMS World Academy–Dubai (GWA) is hiring an Alternative Pathway (SEND) Teacher to support students with special educational needs and disabilities within a private, co-educational IB World School serving PreK through Grade 12. This role is built specifically around students who need an adapted curriculum pathway distinct from the mainstream IB programme, which means the job combines specialist SEND teaching knowledge with genuine curriculum-design flexibility.

The core work involves assessing individual students’ needs, designing and delivering an alternative curriculum pathway suited to each student’s abilities and goals, and working closely with mainstream teachers, learning support staff and parents to keep that pathway coherent and genuinely supportive. A significant part of the role is also tracking individual progress against personalized goals rather than a single standard curriculum benchmark, and adjusting the approach as each student’s needs evolve.

This suits a qualified SEND specialist or special education teacher who is genuinely comfortable designing individualized learning pathways rather than delivering a fixed syllabus, and who wants to work within a well-resourced, established IB World School environment.

## Requirements

- Recognized teaching qualification with specialization in special educational needs or inclusive education

- Experience designing and delivering individualized or alternative curriculum pathways

- Strong collaborative skills for working with mainstream teachers, learning support staff and parents

- Ability to assess and track progress against personalized, non-standard learning goals

- Patience and adaptability suited to a varied, student-specific caseload

- Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, the IB framework’s approach to inclusive education
