How to Increase Your Chances

  • Architecture ownership: Show systems you’ve designed from scratch, not just features you’ve built.
  • Scale evidence: Include data on the traffic/load/throughput your systems have handled.
  • Lead experience: Evidence of technical leadership (code reviews, design reviews, team mentoring) is essential.
  • Energy/utilities background: Fuse values domain knowledge — if you have it, make it prominent.
  • Startup mindset: Show comfort working in ambiguity, iterating fast, and wearing multiple hats.
